Remember the first house with the appraisal issues? Yea, the builder REFUSED to reduce the purchase price at all and was appalled that we didn't have an extra $10,000 to come to closing with. We told him he could shove the house where the sun doesn't shine. He arrogantly touted that he would put the house back on the market for 15k higher and get a buyer by the end of the weekend. We wished him a back-handed good luck and walked away. FYI- the house is still sitting for sale 4 weeks later...
So our house hunt continued. I don't know how we stumbled upon this house at 21& card. It was originally listed WAAAAYYYY out of our price range, like 60k too high, but the seller was eager to sell and dropped the price right where we needed it to be. It seemed to good to be true- over 4500 sq ft of living space & amazing kitchen. It was a million times nicer than any other house we looked at in our price range.
When we pulled up the the house I was pleasantly optimistic. We were met with a few overgrown trees that would be easy to trim and a beautiful brick paver walkway to the front door.
Above the front door, carved out of stone is the address. This is something I have always LOVED on houses!
When we walked inside we were greeted with a beautiful large entry way with cathedral ceilings and a winding oak staircase. I almost started sobbing as I knew this house was definitely the one! The house had everything I wanted- granite kitchen, a formal dining room and den. The back patio is a two tiered brick paver patio with tons of privacy.
Then we went downstairs to the basement. It is completely finished with a full kitchen and bathroom!
The upstairs continued to exceed my expectations with a large master bedroom, awesome master bath and a HUGE 20 foot walk in closet!
Remie and I briefly talked about the house and decided to immediately put an offer on it. Our realtor called the sellers realtor to let them know to expect an offer. The sellers realtor broke the bad news- the house had 3 other offers come in that day! Knowing that I had to get this house, we decided to offer a little bit above the current asking price. I also got some great advice from a friend to write a letter to the seller telling her how much we loved the house.
We waited and waited wondering when we would hear back on our offer. Finally we got the call- the seller picked our offer!!!!!!!
Next came the dreaded appraisal. We were pleasantly surprised when it came back much higher than the purchase price! Yahoo!
It seems like we have jumped through all the hoops because we have been cleared for closing! The house will be officially ours on Friday!!
