Wonderful Memories

I can't possibly move out of my childhood home and not blog about it!

Oh- you didn't know that the house Remie and I lived in was the house I grew up in? Yup, it sure is! We lived in an apartment for the first 6 months after being married and then we bought my parents' home when they moved to North Carolina.

Today Remie and I said goodbye to the house that I spent my entire life in. We are really excited to move on and have more than double the space to spread out but there are a few things we are going to miss about our first home.

1. The Neighbors- we love our neighbors! We have such a great group of people living around us! Some are the original owners and have known me since birth. Others, I have become friends with because they have children the same ages as ours. Regardless of how we met, most of my neighbors are the type of people that would drop everything to help us out.

2. The height markings on our wall- wow it really killed me to leave so many memories of how small my kids once were. I didn't have the heart to paint over it so the new owner will have to do that.

3. Our Trellis- Remie's dad made the trellis one year for my mom for Mother's Day. It has beautiful climbing roses that fill it in the summer. My mom couldn't bring it with her when she moved to NC so we've been able to enjoy it the past 10 years!

4. Handprints- My sister and I put our hands in the wet cement in our garage in 1985. Since then we occasionally put our adult hands in the impression and remember the fun times from when we were so small. My kids have also been known to lay their hands in the impressions and see how their hands compare to ours.

5. Swing set- After Charlotte was born, Remie David really wanted a swing set. My father-in-law came over and built one by hand for the kids. We have been enjoying it every summer since then. Now the new kids in the house will be able to swing and have fun on it.

6. Bob the Ghost- Most of all, I will miss the friendly ghost that played tricks on me throughout my childhood and adult life! Oh, you didn't know my house was haunted? I'll blog about Bob some other time :)

I'm so happy to have my heart filled with so many wonderful memories from my childhood and my children's first years of life! What a fantastic way to move on to a new adventure as a family!

Our last dinner in our house!
