Let me start this story by explaining that I was not at all prepared to raise boys. I grew up with one sister. My poor dad was the only male in the house (we even had a female dog) and he learned quickly to put the toilet seat down and keep his hands out of his pants. I never knew the true nature of boys and their fascination with their junk. I remember as a kid saying that I wanted to be a mom of many boys. God laughed. I had no idea what I was asking for.
Fast forward 20-something years to last week. I start climbing the stairs to find Isaac perched at the top, naked, investigating his testicles. The way he was sitting there reminded me of how a monkey sits and picks bugs out of it's hair. I think about telling him to knock it off but I know all too well that my command will fall on deaf ears. So I pass by him and just shake my head. As I am walking away Isaac decides to announce his amazing new discovery. He exclaims "HEY!!!! THERE'S BALLS IN HERE!!!"
And that ladies and gentlemen, was the highlight of our week.
