Morning Joys

It's no secret that I'm not a morning person AT.ALL. I'm not one to make fancy Pinterest breakfasts for my children. I honestly throw cereal and a tube of yogurt (yes I said tube) at the kids and call it good. The thought of even slicing a bagel and toasting it for them is too much work for 7:30 in the morning. Maybe if said children slept in a little later I'd be more apt to make nicer breakfasts for them.

Our mornings consist of a constant battle between Grazing Grace and Speed Eater Remie. Grace eats her cereal wonderfully until Mr Speed Eater swallows his cereal in one gulp and goes on to his second course. At that point, Grace no longer wants her cereal and starts screaming bloody murder for whatever Remie is currently eating. Of course I give in and throw more food on her tray to get her to be quiet so I can get a sip of coffee. This cycle goes on and on and on until Remie decides he is finally full and goes to get dressed for school. One of my rules as a non-morning person mom is that I only feed the children whatever they can feed themselves. For example, Grace never gets anything I have to spoon feed her. Call me what you want but it's the only way I get through the breakfast hour, yes HOUR, with partial sanity.

So on to breakfast this morning. Same routine as normal- cereal, yogurt, screaming Grace. Then Remie threw me for a loop, he wanted apple sauce for breakfast. That's all fine and dandy for the 7 year old but damnit now Grace is going to want apple sauce and that goes completely against my one morning rule- NO FOOD THAT YOU CANT FEED YOURSELF! And want apple sauce was an understatement. This girl was salivating over Remie's apple sauce. I decided to be a good mom and grab a baby spoon and feed Grace what she wanted. Do you know what that little wonderful Grace did when I tried to feed her the apple sauce????
