The BIG scare!

I was giving Charlotte a bath and I leaned her forward to wash her back. When I leaned her back, her tongue was sticking out, eyes bulging out, foaming at the mouth and she wasn't breathing. I grabbed her out of the tub and started patting her on the back and she still wasn't breathing. I screamed for Remie and he grabbed her and was doing anything and everything to tick her off so that she would start crying and breathing. At one point she tried to cry but no sound came out. It was terrifying. Finally, she started wimpering but was still having labored breathing. Remie was suctioning out her mouth to see if she was choking on something but nothing came up. We decided to rush her to the ER because she still wasn't breathing right. By the time we got to the ER she was doing better but not completely back to normal. AS we were waiting for the dr she started breathing normally. The doc was concerned about what happened so he admitted Charlotte to the hospital. She went through countless bloodtests, an upper GI and had an EEG. They wanted to rule out seizers and infections. They found that she has GERD with apnea. Thankfully it is very easy to treat but still incredibly scary when she decides to stop breathing. Her EEG came back with an abnormality on the right side of her brain. The neurologist is hoping that it is just an artifact on the scan so she has another EEG scheduled for monday. We are finally home from the hospital and resting. PLease keep Charlotte in your prayers that she continues to improve and that her EEG results are perfect.

GERD is "Gastroesophageal reflux disease" and Apnea is when she stops breathing for up to 20 seconds.
