The Joys of Parenting!

Tuesday night was one of those nights that you want to forget.

Remie Sr came down with a flu type bug and was fighting puking and a fever. I told him not to worry about helping with Charlotte that night because I wanted him to sleep and get healthy. Little did I know what the night would bring. Charlotte was awake from 11pm-2am and nothing I did would make her sleep. I fed her and rocked her and fed her some more but nothing! FInally at 2am I started getting mad, not at Charlotte, but at Remie because he was able to sleep through it all (I know I was being irrational but hey, I was sleep deprived). So finally I woke Remie up and told him about the night's events. He decided to give me some words of wisdom by telling me to feed her again. I wanted to punch him but instead I told him that he could feed her with HIS breast milk. He sensed my anger and immediately took Charlotte from me. He started rocking her and then he says "I'm going to puke, can I please put her down?" That was it for me, I started laughing hysterically because he felt the need to ask my permission to go throw up! Soon after, Charlotte drifted into slumber and I thought all was well with the world.

Then, at 3:30am (not even an hour later) I woke up to the sound of someone puking. NO, it wasn't Remie this time....it was my dog Lily! She threw up all over the carpet in our bedroom and in the bathroom. Remie rushed her outside to finish while I tried to figure out how to clean the carpet without waking Charlotte! Argh!

Beep, Beep Beep, it's 7am and my alarm is going off because we have to take Charlotte for another jaundice blood draw. I drag my sorry butt out of bed and start to get ready. The appointment goes smoothly and I decided that I desperately needed some TIm HOrtons to help me forget the night's activities. Remie goes through the drive through and I get a delicious cup of English Toffee Coffee. No sooner do we pull away from Hortons and Remie Jr. starts blowing chunks in the back seat! It felt like I was getting hit with bird shot as his projectile vomit pelted the back of my seat and head! Remie threw the car in park and stripped poor Remie jr down to his diaper. We tried to clean the truck with baby wipes but decided to just deal with the smell and get home. The way this day started, we thought it best not to leave the house the rest of the day, I was tempted to go to bed and never come out from under the sheets again! oh, and I couldn't even enjoy my coffee, because every time I took a sip, it smelled like fresh puke to me!!

Thankfully, today is another day and everyone is feeling much better.

This picture makes those tough parenting days so worth it!

It reminds me of when I brought Avery home from the hospital and I got the flu!! It was awful. Mike had to take care of 3 babies and I was the biggest one of all.
Hang in there! Each day will get better!
Love ya,
Jen
