17 Weeks!

Today I had my 17 week OB appointment. Remie David really wanted to go so the whole family attended the appointment. When Dr. Gilbert was about to listen for the baby's heart beat, Remie climbed right up on the table with me and laid down next to me listening intently. The heart rate was in the 160s again. Remie was so happy to hear the sounds of the baby! When Dr. G was done, Remie asked me "So Mama, is the baby out now?" I had to explain that the baby had some more cooking to do in my belly but it would be out in no time. Of course after that, he continued with about a billion "why" questions about the baby. Charlotte was not interested in the baby's heart beat at all. She enjoyed stepping the the controls to make the table go up and down and all around!

Dr Gilbert did have some concerns about my overall health. Last week I blacked out while at a store and then today there was sugar in my urine so she thinks that the gestational diabetes may be starting early with me. She did a blood test to determine my sugar levels over the past 3 months. She said that if the results were high (as she expects) she will send me to do the 3 hour glucose screening test and by-pass the 1 hour test. The glucose test will determine if I have gestational diabetes again. I also told Dr Gilbert about how my family doctor is concerned about my naturally high heart rate. He wants to do a stress test on my heart after the baby is born. Dr. Gilbert didn't seem to concerned about this but did tell me to tone down my work outs to just walking so we dont have any heart issues to worry about.

We also scheduled our "big" ultrasound for May 5th! This is the ultrasound where you can find out the sex of the baby. Don't get too excited, we're keeping this one (and the chosen names) a secret again! Speaking of names, we have our girl name picked out (it's beautiful) but we can't agree on boy names. I am being so fickle with the boy name! Remie will suggest a name, I'll think it's a nice name and then the next day I veto it! Hopefully we can agree on one before the baby is born so if it's a boy it's not named "baby boy" for a week until we agree on something :)

Yesterday Remie David was kissing and talking to the baby. He saw my stomach moving because I was breathing. He thought that it was the baby moving! I didnt have the heart to tell him that it was just me making my belly move! I am really looking forward to Remie feeling the baby kick. He is making this pregnancy so much fun! I love my little guy!
