On Friday, I went for my 13 week OB appointment. My OB was concerned because I haven't gained any weight in the last month. I told her that it was probably from all of the vomitting I had been doing but she wanted to check my thyroid anyway. She also told me that I needed to start my diabetic diet again. I may not get gestational diabetes this pregnancy but because I had it with Charlotte's pregnancy she would like me to start limiting my carbs and sweets just to be safe. I was also able to hear the baby's heart beat! It was a strong 160-170bpm. Dr. Gilbert and I talked about the different things that I wanted for this pregnancy, labor and delivery and she was excited about all my plans. It's not every day that you find an OB that encourages me to have a med-free delivery. I have thought about finding a midwife for this delivery however Dr. Gilbert and I have a great relationship and she gives me that care that I ask for. When I was in labor with Charlotte, Dr. Gilbert sat beside my bed and put cool wash cloths on my forehead. She also encouraged me to change positions in order to get Charlotte to move from a posterior position. So, I decided to stick with an OB and still have the most natural birth possible! I'm excited to see what this pregnancy and childbirth has in store for me!
Remie David is super excited about being a big brother again. Every day he asks me "how's the baby doin' today?". He is so sweet. He puts his ear on my belly to listen to the baby and he talks to it all the time. When I went for my appointment, Remie was very upset that he couldn't go with me. He thought that he would be able to see the baby and that I was going to get the baby out at that time. He decided that he is going to be there when the baby "gets out" but he is definitely mistaken! Charlotte, on the other hand, has no clue what's going on. When she looks at my stomach, she is more interested in my belly button than my growing bump!
