Whoa What a Week!

It's been quite a whirlwind of a week with a lot of exciting events happening all at once! I'll try to contain it to one blog post, so beware, this may be a doozie!

On Tuesday my best buddy started kindergarten. I cried like a baby as Remie climbed on the bus. He was so grown up and brave as he started his new adventure as a kindergartener!

We followed the bus to Remie's elementary school and walked him into the gym where he met his teacher. She lined everyone up and had all the children blow kisses to us as they walked to their classroom. I can't quite describe the feelings I had at that moment. I cried because I knew in my heart that he is growing up much faster then I want to let him.

When Remie came home from school, he was all smiles. He had a great first day and was ready to go back to school. It's been a slight adjustment for all of us with Remie being away all day long. He is extremely tired when he gets home so I give him some space to rest and relax for a few minutes. All day long Charlotte asks when Remie will be home. I think it is hard for her to have her big brother gone all day too. Today Remie admitted to me that he cried at school because he missed us so much. Thankfully he has a good friend named Lucas that brought him to a teacher and stayed with Remie until he felt better. I know it will take a few weeks for school to become a routine and easy to deal with so until then, please say a little prayer for us and we all get used to this new lifestyle.

On Wednesday Charlotte started preschool. She was a bit peeved that she couldnt go to kindergarten with Remie but in fairly good spirits about seeing her old friends from her 3 year old class last year. I thought that Charlotte might be feeling a bit left out because everyone was making such a fuss about Remie going to kindergarten so we bought her a pretty silver necklace with a heart charm on it. I told her that it was mommy and daddy's heart and that she would always have it with her. I have never seen Charlotte love a gift as much as she loved this necklace. I am so happy that she felt it was such a special gift.

Charlotte was a little nervous when we got to school. She actually looked like she might cry. I noticed that there was a new little girl in her class that didnt know anyone so I suggested that Charlotte introduce herself and help this girl feel comfortable. That's all I had to say, Charlotte pepped right up and made little Kate feel welcome. Gosh I adore Charlotte's kind heart!

After we dropped off Charlotte at school, Isaac and I went to his speech orientation. We met his speech pathologist and Isaac warmed right up to her. She is very soft spoken and tender- just what Isaac needs. We met with a bunch of other 2 year olds with speech delay which was complete madness. Imagine a bunch of toddlers frustrated because they cant talk just screaming and throwing tantrums. Isaac was terrified! He cried when one little guy took his toy which is unlike him. The speech pathologist scheduled a time for us to come back so she could observe Isaac again and make a plan for treatment. Hopefully we will start therapy soon!

After lunch Remie Sr and I went to my doctor's office to have the routine 18 week ultrasound. It was great seeing the baby again! It was kicking and squirming all over the place! We didn't find out the sex which tormented the office staff because they were dying to know what we were having! To be honest, I really don't care if its a boy or girl. I have such a unique and special relationship with each one of my kids that I know I will adore baby groundhog regardless of it's gender. Charlotte is hoping for a girl and wants to name her Emily. Remie said that he wants another baby sister as long as it's not like Charlotte- real nice kid. He also said it would be nice to have another brother. I don't think he has mentioned any real names that he likes. Of course there's always the silly names like Batman and Rescue Hero. Remie Sr and I have a list of names that we like but we wont be naming the baby until we meet him/her face to face.

So there it is- our week in a nut shell. Next week is Charlotte's 4th birthday and the following week is Isaac's 2nd birthday so I dont believe we will be slowing down any time soon!

Wow, Vicki! You are busyyy! Sometimes I wonder how you manage to do all of that while pregnant! I imagine it takes a lot of prayer and planning :) I hope that our family grows into one as beautiful as yours :)
