Mary's Mantle is a residential program for expectant mothers. When I first heard about Mary's Mantle I thought "Wow, that's a great idea!" I decided to get involved by volunteering my time to the women in the home. Over the past year I have discovered that Mary's Mantle is more then just a great idea. Mary's Mantle gives hope to the hopeless, gives love to the unloved and gives life to the unborn. Mary's Mantle is more then just a "program", they are a family. I feel so blessed to be a part of such a great organization that is working to change one soul at a time.

Last night Remie and I attended the 3rd annual Mary's Mantle fundraiser with my doula partner and good friend Jen Susan and her husband Mike. Jen and I were honored by being named Mary's Mantle Volunteers of the Year. I was so flattered to receive the recognition but feel that we are not the ones that deserve to be honored. Each of the 22 women that chose life for their unborn children deserve the most recognition. These women faced their fears, the unknown, outside pressures and chose to make a better life for themselves and their baby. These 22 women should be commended and praised! The few hours a week that I volunteered pales in comparison to what these women have achieved. They have taught me sooo much more then I could ever teach them. I am soo thankful for each one of them and I am blessed to know them!

Another group of women that are worthy of recognition is the staff at Mary's Mantle. These women work tirelessly ministering to the pregnant women by teaching them about Jesus, the sanctity of the body, life skills and giving them confidence to find jobs to support themselves. I am so thankful for these women and all they do.
