A Police Officer's wife

I've grown up in the police family. My father was a Sterling Heights Police Officer for 30 years and my husband, Remie, has been an officer for 6 1/2 years. You would think that by now I would be accustomed to police deaths, but I am not. I take it for granted that at the end of his shift, Remie is going to walk through our front door healthy and alive. Everytime a police officer is killed, it snaps me back into reality that Remie's job really is dangerous. I put myself in the widow's shoes. I think about how she probably struggles to take another breath after hearing that her husband has been killed. How does she explain to her children that Daddy is not coming home? All of this is my worst fear and so I pray daily that God puts a hedge of protection around Remie and that He bring him home safely.

The reason that I am writing this post is because tragedy has struck another family in our area. Officer Mason Samborski of Oak Park Poice Department was shot and killed while conducting an investigation following a traffic stop. He had a stopped a juvenile suspect and took him to a nearby apartment complex in connection with an investigation. After arriving at the location, a struggle ensued in which Officer Samborski was fatally shot. The 16 year-old suspect fled the scene with his service weapon but turned himself in the following day. Officer Samborski had served with the agency for 4 years. He is survived by his wife and child.

Please keep Officer Samborski's family in your prayers!
