37 week OB appointment

Today's appointment was quite eventful. Dr. Gilbert reviewed my ultrasound from yesterday and determined that the baby is already 8lbs! She doesn't want the baby to get too big that I can't deliver it so she scheduled me for an induction on September 26th! I almost passed out when I realized that the 26th is only 2 weeks away! Who's idea was it for me to have to 2 kids under 2??????oh yeah, it was my idea! We will blame it on Hannah Rasmussen because if it wasn't for her birth, I wouldn't have had the itch to have another baby so soon!

I regress......Dr. Gilbert was pleasantly surprised at the progress that I have made in just one week. She said that I am a solid 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. She said that it looks like my body wants to go into labor on it's own so an induction may not even be necessary. She even said that she wouldn't be surprised if I had the baby this weekend! AHHH! I informed her that this weekend was much too soon to come out! I am ready to be done being pregnant but not nearly ready enough to have an infant again.....damn that Hannah Rasmussen!

As for the insulin issue, Dr. Gilbert said that this week's blood sugar levels looked good and she doesn't think there is a need for insulin at this time. She thinks that the high sugar levels may be a result of overdoing my workouts and therefore stressing out my body. She has restricted me from any gym time until after the baby is born :(

I also tested positive for Group B strep. I will have to have antibiotics during labor so that the baby does not get the infection as it travels through the birth canal. I will also have an extended stay at "Hotel St. John Macomb". I don't think I will mind the extended hospital stay, the nurses can care for the baby at night while I sleep...something I will miss for few more months!

Here is the most recent ultrasound of the baby. The first image is the baby's body and the second is the profile of the baby's face. She had a difficult time getting a good picture of the baby's face because it is soo low in my pelvis already.
