Today I had an appointment at the hospital to learn how to prick my finger to test my blood glucose levels. I was really nervous about it because I hate blood and needles. The nurse was really nice and patient while she showed me what to do. Then it was my turn to actually prick my finger! I got the meter all set up, put the needle to my finger and FROZE! I couldn't get myself to actually push the button to prick my finger! The nurse must've seen the sweat on my brow because she instructed me to take a few deep breaths to calm myself down. So I did as she said and BAM I stuck myself with the needle. Blood started coming out but because my hands were so sweaty, the blood didn't bead up like it was supposed to! Instead it ran all over the place and I didn't have enough pooled in one spot to test. So the nurse told me I would have to prick my finger again! I thought I was going to die having to do it again but I did and this time the blood cooperated and I was able to test it. It's really not as bad as I thought it would be but it is still no fun! Thankfully, I only have 9 weeks until the baby is due or 252 more finger pricks!
