Our Newest Addition!

Our entire family (Remie, Remie D., Darla and I) drove to Leader Dogs for the Blind this morning to meet Quill! When we walked into the building, I told the receptionist what dog we were there for and she said "Well, this is her!" Out from behind the counter hops a super cute and friendly black dog! She immediately started kissing my face and I knew it was love at first sight! We first introduced Quill to Remie David. She was very gentle with him. She kissed his face and didn't even notice when Remie stuck his arm in her mouth! Quill officially passed test #1! Now it was time to meet Darla. We brought Darla into the building, they sniffed eachother and then went about their own business! I even let Quill kiss me to see how Darla would react....nothing! Quil and Darla passed test #2! We then asked the dog trainer what we had to do to make Quill part of our family. He instructed us that we had already passed the background check so if we liked Quill we could take her home immediately! So we did! Quill and Darla are getting along great however, Darla is acting like a typical big sister and doesn't want to share her toys. We are going to take the "kids" to PetSmart tomorrow and they both can pick out their own toy!

If anyone would like to add a dog to their family, I would strongly encourage going on the waiting list for a "career change" dog through Leader Dogs! Quill is already house broken, Neutered and up to date on her shots (and did I mention that she was free?) It took about 2 years before we got our dog but she was well worth the wait!
