Got 4 Kids? No problem!

I know you all are dying to know what life with 4 children is like *insert sarcasm*

Actually life with four kids is going pretty smoothly. My days are super busy and it seems like someone is ALWAYS hungry or pooping! But seriously, it’s not any harder than life with 3 kids. I’ve already learned to juggle my time and preplan everything so what’s one more kid?

Grace is the most wonderfully easy baby so far (shhh don’t tell the other kids).  We had about a week or so of colic-like fussiness but I quickly realized that tomatoes and dairy products upset Grace’s tummy. Now that I’ve eliminated those foods from my diet, Grace is perfectly happy! She is very easy to breastfeed and eats about every 2-3 hours during the day. For the past two weeks my little sweetie has been sleeping about 8 hours at night. If someone could promise me that the rest of my newborns would be this enjoyable I would have 20 more kids!

And now for the other kids…

I met with Isaac’s speech therapist yesterday to discuss his IEP. We talked a lot about next year and starting preschool. I was really prepared for Isaac to go to Special Education Preschool. To my surprise, Isaac no longer qualifies for special ed preschool. His therapist suggested going to speech class one day a week and then attending regular preschool. This is bitter-sweet for me. I am very happy that Isaac’s speech is improving rapidly (he’s up to about 60 words!) and that he doesn’t qualify for special ed but at the same time, sending Isaac to regular preschool scares me. He’s sooo shy and adding speech delay to that makes it worse. I am afraid that in regular preschool he will be left out because he won’t speak up for himself. That being said, my kids have all gone to a wonderful preschool at Rockpointe church and that’s where Isaac will go too. The teachers there sincerely love their students and have known Isaac since I was pregnant with him. I know that they will take great care of him and make sure he is included in everything but sometimes it’s hard to let go and let my little guy grow without me (can someone hand me a tissue please?)

And now Charlotte….what can I say about my sweet Charlotte?? We are getting ready to enroll her in Kindergarten for next year! She can’t wait to ride the bus with her big brother but she is not so sure about being in school ALL day. I have to admit that I’m not ready for her to be gone all day either. Charlotte has turned the corner from being the mischievous toddler that constantly needs correction to becoming a very enjoyable preschooler. She is excellent with her little brother and sister and helps out a lot.

Remie is up to the same old stuff- kindergarten during the day and playing at night. I can’t believe how much he has grown since starting kindergarten. He is the typical first born and knows EVERYTHING. We have turned a corner with him in the eating department. We very rarely have to fight with him to eat dinner anymore.  He has learned (for the most part) that it’s not worth it to argue about eating. It’s starting to make dinner time more enjoyable and less stressful (that is when Isaac isn’t feeding the dogs and Charlotte take less than 2 hours to eat)

That’s what we have all been up to lately! We are busy busy busy but loving every minute with our quiver of children!

Well, if you decide to have 20 more, can I at least have ONE of them? Preferably a little girl please! ;), Mel
