The word is out and yes it’s official that I am pregnant
with our 4th baby. I like to use my blog as a type of memoir of my
pregnancies so you will hear lots and lots about this pregnancy for the next 6
months!!
It seems to be quite a shock to people that we decided to
have another baby and I have been getting A LOT of questions about having a
large family. It boggles my mind that having 4 children is considered extreme.
I never once thought that I would be compared to the Duggar family with 19
children, but we have been on more than one occasion. My mom is one of 13
children, so I laugh when people think 4 is outrageous. I wanted to cease this
opportunity to answer the most common questions Remie and I have been getting:
When is your due
date? I’m due February 2, 2013, which currently makes me 11 weeks pregnant.
Meet Baby V at 7 weeks old with a very strong heart beat! |
Was this baby
planned? Well….hmmm….OF COURSE THIS BABY WAS PLANNED! If you know me at all
you know that we’ve always wanted at least 4 children and to be perfectly
honest with you- if I haven’t figured out yet that unprotected sex causes
pregnancy then I am a complete moron.
Are you going to find
out the sex of the baby? Nope. We love keeping the gender a surprise! Some
of my most precious memories are when my children were born and Remie exclaimed
with sheer joy that we had a son or daughter.
Have you picked out
names yet? We have an idea for a girl’s name but can’t even remotely agree
on a boy’s name. And no, if you ask we won’t tell you the names. I guess we are
just huge secret squirrels when it comes to the baby names ;)
Where are you going
to put all the kids? We have a 3 bedroom home which means that some of the
kids are going to have to share a room. Right now, Charlotte and Remie share a
room with bunk beds and Isaac sleeps in the nursery. We haven’t decided yet if
we will put a toddler bed in the nursery so the baby and Isaac will be
roommates (it would be a tight squeeze) or if we will move Isaac in with the
big kids. People have asked us why we aren’t
buying a new house to fit all of our kids. Well, if only it was that simple.
Why are you having
another baby in this terrible economy? Even though I think this question is
completely rude, it is something we have been asked more then once. First, Remie and I are financially fit
meaning we do not live outside our means. We are proud that besides our
mortgage, we have ZERO DEBT. We only buy things that we have money for and if
we don’t have the money, we don’t get it. It’s this simple act of maturity and
responsibility that enables us to provide for a large family on only one
income. Yes, you’re right, we won’t be taking our kids to Disney World every
year and our only vacations will be places we can drive to but think of all the
family games of baseball and football we can play. Think of how close our
family will be. My kids are going to be
each other’s best friends and have so many siblings they can trust and rely on
in a time of need.
So there you have it, the answers to the most burning
questions you wanted to ask us *insert sarcasm*! People keep telling me that we
will have our hands full with 4 children but our hearts will be overflowing with love.

I wish that there was a "like" button for this post. And I totally agree, even though extravagant vacations are nice, what's more important are the games of baseball played in the front yard.

Are you done now?
Isn't that going to be a lot to handle?
Don't you worry about the environment?
Sheesh. People are so rude and unloving!
