Unbound Birth

Many of you may know that I am crazy in love with natural childbirth. I love being pregnant and actually look forward to being in labor. The ancipation of meeting my child for the first time as well as being involved in the miracle of birth is the most amazing experience.

It may surprise you that I did not always feel this way about natural childbirth. When I was pregant with my first child, I knew that I wanted a natural child birth in the hospital but I didnt really understand how to go about it achieving this goal. I spent hours researching natural childbirth and it seemed that the only information I could find was on having a natural home birth. The only choice I had was to "wing it", grit my teeth and get through childbirth the best that I could.

A few months ago, I came across a tweet on twitter by Jenny Yarbrough asking her followers if anyone had a natural childbirth in the hospital. I commented on her tweet that I did indeed have 3 natural births in the hospital. Can you imagine my excitement when Jenny told me that she was writing a book for women that wanted a natural birth in the hospital? Jenny then asked me if I would be willing to read her book and review it for her. Of course I said yes!

Unbound Birth by Jenny Yarbrough is exactly what the birthing world needed. Jenny Yarbrough made this book very easy to read and filled it with great information about acheiving your dream birth in the hospital. She includes positive stories about natural childbirth that illustrate that childbirth is not scary or torturous. What I liked best about the book is that Jenny gave her readers tips on how to create a birth plan that won't provoke negative feelings from the hospital staff. She teaches us how to make the hospital staff part of the birth support team rather then your arch enemy. As a birth doula, I will recommend this book to my clients.

Unbound Birth will be available for sale on Amazon starting January 31, 2012. Visit Unbound Birth for more information. You can also "like" Unbound Birth on Facebook and Twitter!
