Cider Mill

We decided to take the kids to Blakes Cider Mill today hoping that we would find things for them to do there. I was a little concerned because I knew that a lot of the kid's activities were only available on weekends but we decided to try our luck anyway.

When we got to Blakes, we went into the barn to pay for our "Barnyard Pass". We were delighted to find out that Remie David was still young enough to get in for free! As we were paying for our pass, one of the owners of Blakes said that if we wanted, we could jump in on a field trip that was there! I was unsure of joining a field trip but thought it was worth a shot. Boy was I right! By joining the field trip, we were able to take a train ride out to the apple orchard and pick apples. We didn't pick any ordinary apples, we picked Northern Spy apples that Grandpa V uses to make his famous apple pie! After picking apples, we jumped back on the train and took a ride to the pumpkin patch where we picked our own pumpkins! Remie David was in HEAVEN! I swear the kid was floating because he was so happy!

After the train ride, we went into the cider mill and found out that because we were part of the field trip, we got FREE doughnuts and cider! I swear that God was looking down on us and blessing us the entire way! We enjoyed our FREE snack and then headed over to the petting zoo. Remie loved seeing the horses, cows, chickens, pigs and llama. But his favorite animal was the baby goats they had! They were so cute the way they hopped around and climbed on the bigger goats! We wanted to take them home with us! After the petting farm, we played on everything they had! Remie ran through a maze of hay, climbed to the top of a HUGE haystack, played on a pretend train and climbed on every obstacle they had.

Needless to say, we had two tired kids when we got home! It was a blast going to Blakes and I think we are going to make it a tradition to go there every fall!
