The only bad part about North Carolina is the fact that they have chiggers. If you dont know what a chigger is, let me tell you, they are the spawn of satan! Chiggers are a little bug that attaches to your skin and then travels around looking for MULTIPLE spots to place their larva. I found that the chiggers love me! I have 6 larva spots on my right foot and ankle. The "bites" itch about 100 times worse then mosquito bites and the only way to get relief is to kill the larva. It's enough to drive one mad! My mom told me to just put nail polish over the bites and they would get better...it didn't work. After a few days I was so misreable that I decided to google home remedies for relief from chiggers. I found a lot of advice on how to kill the larva and I wasn't sure what one to try. So, I thought and thought....and decided to try all of the methods! I started by soaking my feet for 10 minutes in 50% bleach and 50% water. I then put a hair dryer on my bites to try to burn the larva. After that I added Listerine to the bites and continued with a coat of desitin! My dad just sat and laughed because I was determine to kills these evil bugs! I am not sure which method worked but I am finally able to sleep without continually scratching! To be honest, I am very surprised that I still have skin left on my feet after my ordeal!
