Charlotte

Once again we spent the morning getting Charlotte's blood drawn and visiting the pediatrician. We are very thankful that Charlotte's jaundice is slowly getting better. She still has to be in the "glow blanket" but we are hoping that that will end soon. We have to get her blood drawn again tomorrow morning and hopefully her levels will be low enough that she no longer needs to be "plugged in".

However, the pediatrician is now concerned because she is not gaining weight. He has put her on a very strict eating schedule where every two hours I nurse her for 30 minutes and then she eats 1-2oz of formula. It sounds easy enough, right? Well it's not. I explained to the dr that I have a hard enough time getting her to nurse for 5 minutes without her falling asleep. He gave us some pointers on how to keep her awake...in theory they are great but I tried all the tricks today and she still wouldn't wake to eat. I finally gave up and made a bottle of formula to see if she wanted that instead. I had to force her to eat 3/4oz of formula. It was not fun and I am completely frustrated. It shouldn't be this hard to feed a baby.
